Hey guys! On September 23, 2021 we posted about the LEGO price increases for 2022 in Western Europe. After reading more into this, I quickly realized that people weren’t very happy about this. Check that post out HERE. However LEGO has announced, on social media, that the LEGO Foundation will be donating $150 million dollars USD to support children and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic across the world. In my opinion, if you can afford to purchase LEGO during these difficult times, then the slight price increase shouldn’t be an issue. The continuous donations really show LEGO’s true colours.
brickfanatics.com: “The announcement was made as part of the Global Citizen Live event on September 25. $70 million will go towards access to vaccines and health supplies for parents, teachers and caregivers whilst the other $80 million will benefit the LEGO Foundation’s partners as they continue to recover from the effects of the pandemic.”
promobricks.de: “It was only at the end of August that the LEGO Foundation donated 13 million euros for children from Afghanistan and Haiti. The LEGO Foundation is a co-owner of the LEGO Group, 25% of all LEGO profits are donated to the foundation for charitable purposes.”
brickfinder.net: “While I still do feel that LEGO set prices are quite high, I’m at least comforted by the fact that they do portion out some profits to help these kids. Keep fighting the good fight.”
