Hey guys! It brings me deep sadness to hear that one of the LEGO greats has passed away. Jan Pennings was one of the winners from LEGO Masters Benelux in 2020. To be honest, I needed to google Benelux to know it’s location, but that doesn’t change the fact that we have lost a dear AFOL. I’ve quickly learnt that the LEGO community is a strong, close, intelligent group of individuals. Therefore, I’d like to take a moment to honour a fellow AFOL and show our support and condolences to Jan’s family and friends.
Jan was only 31 years old. He was 22 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour, bit it is not clear the reason of his death. His family has asked for peace and privacy during this difficult time. Respectively so.
Lola Nouwens, his LEGO Masters partner and best friend, went to social media to express her loss.
Translation: “I am incredibly grateful for his infectious zest for life, infinite creativity and indestructible optimism, for his friendship and loving care, for his weird humour and hysterical laugh. But above all, I am incredibly sad. Because man, I miss him already.”
R.I.P Jan Pennings, you will always be loved by the AFOL community.
