Hey guys! Earlier this year, Toys R Us made the decision to close its final two stores in the USA. However, USA Today announced that as of next year, Toys R Us will be joining forces with Macy’s online and in over 400 of their department stores. Smaller Toys R Us shops will be built inside select Macy’s department stores. How big the shops will be and the list of selected Macy’s stores are not yet available. Toys R Us mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe will be making an appearance too!
CBS Boston, reports:
YouTuber, The Toy Room, talks about the new partnership:
YouTuber, vanburen20, thinks the comeback is pretty exciting:
Nata Dvir, Macy’s chief merchandising officer says: “As a Toys“R”Us kid, I could not be more excited to bring this beloved brand that so many of our customers know and love into Macy’s online and to our stores across America. Our toy business grew exponentially in the past year, with many families looking to inspire their children’s imagination and create meaningful moments together.”
Yehuda Shmidman, chairman and CEO of WHP Global and Toys R Us states: “Our partnership with Macy’s marks the greatly anticipated return of Toys”R”Us in the U.S.A. and changes the retail landscape by combining two beloved retail brands together for consumers across the nation in a completely innovative way“
Neil Saunders, managing director of consultancy GlobalData Retail thought: “The addition of Toys R Us would give families more of a reason to visit Macy’s. The department store needs to make sure the concept looks good.”
